Boston

We dropped in on Boston on 18 July to eat seafood and to pilgrimage to some historic sites. Our hotel this trip is the Boston Harbor Hotel where we got a room overlooking the harbor.

The harbor walk is right outside the hotel so we were able to explore a bit in the afternoon. Boat watching is a delight.I had discovered a top rated restaurant was right in this hotel and had reserved a table there. The Rowes Wharf Sea Grille  overlooking the water serves mostly seafood which made a choice from the menu difficult. After oysters we launched into striped sea bass and a 2 1/2lb Maine lobster. The service was exceptional and the food outstanding. After dinner we stepped out to view the waterfront for a bit then returned to our room to watch the water from our 9th floor window.

19 July.  Boston. Where the revolution began. Here we are and so much to see and learn. I had engaged the services of a guide and we began adventure at 0930. Throughout the day we drove about Boston with our guide Declan sharing his wealth of knowledge and his enthusiasm for local history. Some spots we just observed from the outside and most from right up close. After establishing what was original Boston and what was now Boston, built on landfill, we visited Paul Revere's home, the Old North Church, Bunker Hill, Beacon Hill, had a lunch stop then off to Arlington, Lexington and Concord. Since our was deeply interested in the American Revolution and has great knowledge of the events of such in and around this area, we learned and were entertained throughout the day.
